Job Description
The Technical Services Scientist is directly responsible for the management and execution of multiple Commercial Product support projects in the areas of troubleshooting, investigation support and product improvement and optimization. The chosen candidate will support evaluation of new equipment and new technologies as well as provide support for product, equipment, and cleaning validation activities. The Scientist will also prepare and review technical packages for regulatory supplements, provide on call support, and manage change control activities for SOPs and MMRs.

Must have a thorough understanding of technical concepts required for the unit operations involved in pharmaceutical solid dosage form manufacturing. These unit operations include mixing, milling, drying, tablet compression, film coating and encapsulation.

The Scientist uses that knowledge, creativity, company practices and priorities to obtain solutions to complex problems. He/She Interfaces with senior management to provide and obtain information and to build consensus regarding project direction.

Responsibilities:

• Performs root cause identification for multiple product related investigations and customer complaint investigations.
• Conducts notebook experiments to support investigation root cause findings.
• May lead multiple projects in optimization and improvement for products on the shop floor.
• Performs troubleshooting activities for issues in granulation, blending, compression, encapsulation, compression, or for other appropriate unit operations as identified.
• Writes and reviews reports and regulatory documents.
• Provides on call support to manufacturing during off hours.
• Manages change control activities associated with SOP development and SOP updates as well as MMR development and MMR updates.
• Supports product, process, equipment, and cleaning validation activities for projects within the group.
• Provides work leadership to lower level scientists and technical staff and resolves problems.
• Reviews and interprets research findings for less experienced staff.
• Utilizes statistical experimental design techniques.
• Additional duties and assignments as needed.

• BS degree required (Engineering or Pharmacy is preferred)
• 6 years related experience a must.
