OVERVIEW

Performs analytical troubleshooting of pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment, including mechanical / electrical systems and instrumentation and controls (I&C). Also provides technical expertise to purchase, install and test equipment and/or controls to improve or replace existing systems.


Analyzes and troubleshoots mechanical, electrical and electronic pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment.

Interfaces with PLC / SCADA control systems to facilitate troubleshooting.

Recommends system and process changes to improve overall efficiency of facilities / automation engineering department and manufacturing operations.

Performs Control Loop Tuning and Optimization.

Partners with maintenance to ensure understanding of technical issues and corrective actions to be taken while minimizing down production time. Performs minor repairs as needed.

Implement small equipment / instrumentation upgrades and work with Equipment Qualification group to test system modifications.

Coordinates and oversees spare parts inventory of Manufacturing and Manufacturing facilities.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

2nd shift
Associates Degree (Electronics Technology)
3 to 5 years field engineering / technician experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. Solid dosage experience preferred. Fluid bed granulation technology strongly desired.
Thorough understanding of process control systems, sensors, actuators, instrument loops, control valves, variable frequency drives (VFDs) and pneumatics.
1 to 3 years experience with Allen Bradley PLC5 / SLC / Control Logix PLCs. Wonderware Intouch experience a plus.
Solid communication skills and good documentation practices.
Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, loop diagrams and P&IDs.
Strong electrical / mechanical aptitude with the ability to analyze and troubleshoot systems in order to determine permanent corrective actions.
Strong, demonstrated partnering skills to resolve issues and work in a team environment.
